Moving along, nicely....

One Nation by Bygone Stitches is moving along very nicely - I find that I am really looking forward to each Monday so that I can pick it up again.

HELP PLEASE.......

I got my kit that I'm doing for the SAL.  It's a Pillow Kit from Pine Mountain.
But I'm have some trouble trying to start.  The directions don't give a starting point.  No markings for the center.  Usually there are little arrows pointing to where you start at, but this one doesn't have the arrows.
Any help would be appreciated lots.  Have a great day!

Old Glory

Hello everyone!  I thought it was probably about time that I got onto the Red, White and Blue bandwagon and attempted an Americana style stitch....

Last week I finally got around to starting Little House Needleworks "Old Glory".  This design was one of my Stitch Maynia starts, but it was mainly chosen to fit into another SAL on the Stitch Maynia group to celebrate the state of Texas.

I am stitching the design with the DMC conversion rather than the fancy floss, but that's ok because it will still be a gorgeous finish (one day!).  Fabric is 28ct Lugana "Dapple" from Picture This Plus.

See you next time I bring this one out to play!

Hugs x

A bit of red, white and blue.....

.... stitching this week, which, of course, is as it always is on the Americana SAL blog.... lol!

So, as you know I have started on a BAP, "One Nation" by ByGone Stitches. I am loving stitching this design.

Here is where I began last Monday evening...

... and this is my progress....

... and then I couldn't stop stitching on it, so I did a bit more yesterday (Tuesday).....

Are you doing any Americana or Patriotic stitching?  I would love to know.

Until next Monday ....

hugs,

A Happy Dance for Happy 4th and a new Start....

Thanks to everyone for your advice on my two dilemmas - as you will see from the pics below, they have been resolved - if you click on each pic you will be taken to the relevant posts describing my dilemmas.

First up is my Happy Dance - "Happy 4th" by Threadwork Primitives, gifted to me by my dear Stitching friend, Barb, from Wicked Stitcher.

Thank you to those of you who gave me such excellent advice - I am very happy with this finish.

I also have a New Start, "One Nation" by ByBone Stitches, which will be a focus piece for the foreseeable 'Merica Mondays, although I am not discounting the possibility of being easily distracted by another Americana Small along the way!

I have one State stitched and the start of Indiana.  The states are listed on the flag in the order in which they joined the Union.  Here is a reminder of what it will look like one day....

HI.....

Hi Kaye,
Thanks for the invite.  I've ordered my Americana piece, it went in the mail today.  So should be here in a week.  I've picked something small for now, but am seriously looking at something bigger.

More advice, please....

Thank you so much to everyone who has been giving me great advice on my fabric choice for One Nation  - see this post here or here, if you want to see what I am talking about or put your two cents worth in - lol!  It has been really helpful and I have just about made a decision, I think.....

Anyway, another 'Merica Monday brings another dilemma....  this week I continued stitching on Happy 4th by Threadwork Primitives, gifted to me by my dear Stitching friend, Barb, from Wicked Stitcher.

Here is the floss toss (I am choosing my own colourway):

Progress pic:

... and here is my dilemma.  I found this gorgeous WDW floss, "Old Glory", in my floss stash and so I have started using it for the words, "Happy 4th".  I haven't done much yet but I am not convinced that it is working - maybe too pale?  I am thinking of using it for the stripes on the flag instead, as I am really keen to use this floss somewhere on the design, and choosing a slightly different blue for the words.

What do you all think?  I would really appreciate some more of your good advice.

hugs,

The elephant is dancing...

.... not in the circus but off my needles......

Republican Elephant
Party Tarts
Plum Street Samplers
28 ct linen
Pattern and DMC floss given to me by dear Sarah

Thank you again, Sarah, I have loved stitching these designs.

Luckily, after finishing my elephant, I had time for a new Americana start, a Small design gifted to me by another dear Stitching friend, Barb from Wicked Stitcher - she certainly knows how to feed my American addiction, too.

Whilst I didn't get very far, at least I made a start!

Now, I have to confess that I have lashed out (Aussie expression for spending money lavishly) and bought this gorgeous ByGone Stitches pattern that I have been lusting after for a while now.  It is the American flag with all of the fifty states listed in the order that they joined the Union.  The design is called One Nation.  It is a perfect chart for my Americana stitching passion.

However, I have a bit of dilemma, as I cannot decide which colour fabric to stitch on.  All three fabrics are from my stash (as it was too expensive to order the design and all of the CC floss as well as the fabric - not when I have a drawer full of linen fabric of all descriptions).

I would love some advice as I keep wavering as to which one to choose:

Choice #1: A grey/brown linen (this is the same linen that I am using for Happy 4th above)

Choice #2: A light blue linen.

Choice #3: An over-dyed buttery yellow linen (it is a bit yellower than this pic show).

I hope to start this in a week or two so plenty of time for me to procrastinate, prevaricate and um and ah! - so your thoughts would really help.

hugs,

That elephant is still marching on ....

I had hoped for an Elephant Happy Dance this week but no such luck - at least one more evening of stitching is going to be required to finish my Republican Elephant, I think.....

Before:

2nd April Progress (I forgot to post as I was unwell last week):

9th April Progress:

I am certainly getting there with this piece, although I must admit the shiny red floss is difficult to work with - so slippery and frays very easily.  Nice effect, though, once stitched.

Onto the Elephant....

... the Republican Elephant, that is....

I felt that I made a lot of progress in one evening with my elephant - although he looks a bit like a table at the moment - lol!

Early Americans-Little House Needleworks

Hi everyone! I am new here on this blog and so excited to share my patriotic/Americana stitching. I have been working on this project almost exclusively for the last month and a half, as I love it and just can't put it down. I am hoping to have it finished soon. I would love for you to check out all of my stitching on my personal blog.

Democratic Donkey Update...

My focus Americana piece for now is the Democratic Donkey one of the Party Tarts by Plum Street Samplers, part of their Jack's Sweet Shoppe Series.

This was gifted to me by the gorgeous Sarah (from Sarah in Stitches) when we caught up on my recent stay in Dubai.  Thank you again, Sarah.

Now:

So, as you can see - a heap of progress has been made - this is such a lovely project to stitch.  BTW, the top pic is the truer colours of the piece - isn't it funny how much effect lighting can have on your photos?

This is a painted canvas piece I picked up a couple of years ago. It travels well which is part of why it isn't done yet.   I am still thinking about making another so that it can be double sided.

Monday, 5 March 2018

Okay, here we go for 2018....

I have just realised that I have not posted on this Americana SAL blog for nearly a year! The last time I posted was 27 March 2017 and here it is the 6th March 2018!!!!!!!!

... and I do  so love this SAL blog - so here goes with the first post for 2018....

This is where I was up to before I started stitching last evening ....

... and, as you can see, quite a lot of progress was made!

I would love it if you would like to join me for some Americana stitching - it can be a WIP or UFO or a brand new project - you choose.
