More advice, please....

Thank you so much to everyone who has been giving me great advice on my fabric choice for One Nation  - see this post here or here, if you want to see what I am talking about or put your two cents worth in - lol!  It has been really helpful and I have just about made a decision, I think.....

Anyway, another 'Merica Monday brings another dilemma....  this week I continued stitching on Happy 4th by Threadwork Primitives, gifted to me by my dear Stitching friend, Barb, from Wicked Stitcher.

Here is the floss toss (I am choosing my own colourway):

... and here is my dilemma.  I found this gorgeous WDW floss, "Old Glory", in my floss stash and so I have started using it for the words, "Happy 4th".  I haven't done much yet but I am not convinced that it is working - maybe too pale?  I am thinking of using it for the stripes on the flag instead, as I am really keen to use this floss somewhere on the design, and choosing a slightly different blue for the words.

What do you all think?  I would really appreciate some more of your good advice.

hugs,

P.S. I am having ANOTHER Girl's Nest Giveaway (#6), click on the pic below if you would like to enter.  Closes May 31st.

My vote would be NOT to use it on the flag. I believe in keeping the flag fairly true - shades of red, white and blue but not all at once in an overdyed. And to me pink is not a shade of red. Call me old-fashioned or grumpy or what ever. Just call me an American.

I agree. I would not use it for the stripes in the flag or for the wording. I think the stripes should be red and white as in reality and the words need to be in bolder colors. If you really want to use it in this piece, I'd frog the flowers and use it for them.

I really like your idea of using it for the stripes in the flag. It is looking really good so far!
